Damage Calculation
Taimanin Squad uses two different calculation modes for damage modifiers. Understanding these formulas is key to optimizing your team composition.
Multiplicative Mode (Default)
Used for damage reduction (DEF, resistance). Multiple reductions stack with diminishing returns - they don't simply add together.
Additive Mode
Used for damage bonuses (ATK buffs, skill damage). All bonuses add together directly for a total multiplier.
Multiplicative Example (Defense Stacking)
20% DEF reduction + 30% skill reduction + 10% element resist
= (1 - 0.20) * (1 - 0.30) * (1 - 0.10)
= 0.80 * 0.70 * 0.90
= 0.504 (49.6% total reduction, NOT 60%)
Additive Example (Damage Bonuses)
20% ATK buff + 30% skill damage + 10% crit bonus
= 0.20 + 0.30 + 0.10
= 0.60 (60% total bonus)
Optimization Tips
- For Damage Dealers: Focus on penetration and ignore defense effects to bypass multiplicative reduction.
- For Tanks: Stack different types of damage reduction for best results. Three 30% reductions = 65.7% total (not 90%).
- Buffs Stack Additively: Multiple ATK buffs from different sources add together directly.
Roles
Characters are divided into 3 roles based on their combat function.
Attacker
High damage output characters focused on dealing damage to enemies. Best for burst damage and clearing content quickly.
Defender
Tanky characters with high HP and DEF. They protect allies and absorb damage, essential for difficult content.
Support
Utility characters that buff allies, debuff enemies, or provide healing. Key for team synergy and sustained fights.
A balanced team typically includes at least one of each role: an Attacker for damage, a Defender to absorb hits, and a Support for utility.
Types
Characters also have a combat type that affects their stat distribution and playstyle.
Agility
High-speed characters with fast actions and high evasion. Excel at dodging attacks and acting first in battle.
Power
Raw strength focused characters with high base ATK. Deal massive damage but may sacrifice speed or defense.
Technique
Skill-based characters with unique abilities. Often have special effects, debuffs, or utility in their kits.
Balance
Well-rounded characters with balanced stats. Versatile and reliable in various situations without major weaknesses.
Types determine a character's stat focus. Agility characters are fast, Power characters hit hard, Technique characters have unique effects, and Balance characters are versatile.
